Through the food fair
I have participated in the International Food Fair twice. The first time, I attended I helped the Japanese Association serving food. It was so much fun to serve food to people from around the world saying hello and explaining what the food was. Some people talked to me in Japanese. It is really neat to see people from around the world at one place. On my second time, I actually cooked the food. My friends and I cooked sushi, it was a lot of work since we used whole rice package. We cooked from 10pm to 2am, can you imagine you cook for 4 hours rolling sushi? It was hard, but exciting too at the same time. Sushi was a big success, because all food on our booth was gone before the event was closed. People liked sushi so much!!This year, as my third time of the participation, I helped organizing the event as a member of MSA. I made sure that all the booths from different countries (9 groups!) were doing well, and it gave me another chance to talk to them. The past two years, I talked with the customers, but this year I got to talk to the participants and they were all great! They were passionate to represent the food of their mother country, and all food was delicious and beautiful! When I attend multicultural event, I like to talk to people from different countries, because I learn something from them. I like OCU’s International Food Fair because people are all so friendly! Through the Food Fair, I met many good people and I just love this kind of event; meet new friends! And of course, every time I attend the Food Fair, I find new “favorite” food!

Ladies and Gents,The International Food Fair was a huge success! We had such a great mixture of cultures, nationalities, ages, etc... Talk about the OCU melting pot.A special thanks to all the participants, judges, friends, and our advisor Clint Normore for all your help and dedication towards the food fair.Student Association (MSA). Furthermore, I am glad and thankful to see the continuous support of the OCU community towards the Multicultural Student Association (MSA). Lastly, while reading, I came across this quote and I would like to share it with you, “diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it every day.” I tried to find the author, but all my efforts ended in anonymous. Yet, the value of its words is worth remembering.José AndradeMSA President
would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you that participated in the International Food Fair 2008. We had such a great turn out this year. I know this event would not have been as success without all of your help. Thank you for actively supporting the Multicultural Student Association (MSA) events. The International Food Fair is a great opportunity for everyone on campus as well as the local community to taste delicious foods from various parts of the world without having the hassle of travelling. This also shows how diverse the OCU campus is and its cultural diversity is what makes it so unique.I enjoy MSA events because it gives the International Students a chance to showcase their culture and talents to the domestic students and the local community here in Oklahoma City. On top of that, I hope that we as international students can enrich the learning experience on campus by bringing and sharing our culture from all over the world.Stay in tune with MSA for more upcoming events!Alice SimInternal Vice PresidentMulticultural Students Affair

have always wanted to have an African table at the international food fair, but I did not know how or what to do, in order to make it possible. However I gained the courage, to make it happen, when the president of MSA (José Andrade) told me about his interest in having an African table participating in the 2008 international food fair. It was a little hard trying to find people to commit to this; but in the end I was successful in getting people from Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal and Ghana to represent Africa.I must say that the international food fair was uniquely and successfully done. For the first time in three years we had representatives from Sweden, Saudi Arabia, and Africa. I know this is just the beginning of good things to come for MSA and I cannot wait for next year's food fair which will be twice as big as this year's food fair. Who knows what new countries will be represented in that one.

We also try to do something new. Like cover people, we interview international students and let them talk about the life in OCU campus. In this term, I use MSA Executive Members to be the cover people. Out executive members did a lot of things and spent a lot of time for MSA. In the end of this semester, I wanna say : “ we really did a good job, thank you everybody.” MSA Executive Members
It is not a easy to start a new thing, but we did it! From this semester, MSA Newsletter started to publish on blog. There are 1,000 more people has watched our e-newsletter. In the past, we just published 200 newsletter in one term. I am happy to see more OCU students and read it. That is also our purpose: make newsletter more interesting and attract more students to read it. No matter where they are, even students are in other countries, they still can know what happen in OCU campus via internet.
